Deep-Fried Tortellini: The Ultimate Crispy Delight

My sister makes this delicious fried tortellini appetizer for many of our parties and family get-togethers. They can be made ahead of time and warmed up on a pizza tray just before serving. Serve with tomato sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 1(16 ounce) packagerefrigerated or fresh cheese tortellini

  • ¼cupbread crumbs

  • ¼cupcornflake crumbs

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • dried parsley, to taste

  • oil for deep frying

  • 2largeeggs, lightly beaten

Cooking Directions

  1. Cook tortellini according to package directions. Rinse under cool water and allow to cool slightly.

  2. Combine bread crumbs, cornflake crumbs, salt, pepper, and parsley in a large resealable plastic bag.

  3. Heat oil in a deep fryer or deep skillet over medium heat.

  4. Dip tortellini in egg and place in resealable bag in small batches. Shake to coat and set aside on a plate until the oil is hot.

  5. Deep-fry breaded tortellini in batches until golden brown.
