Ingredients

  • cooking spray

  • 3tablespoonspacked brown sugar

  • ½cupketchup

  • 1 ½poundslean ground beef

  • ¾cuplow-fat (1%) milk

  • 2eggs

  • 1 ½teaspoonssalt

  • ¼teaspoonground black pepper

  • 1smallonion, chopped

  • ¼teaspoonground ginger

  • ¾cupwhole wheat bread crumbs

  • ¼cupchopped parsley

Cooking Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.

  2. Press brown sugar into the bottom of the prepared loaf pan; spread ketchup over sugar.

  3. Mix ground beef, milk, eggs, salt, ground pepper, onion, ginger, bread crumbs, and parsley together thoroughly in a mixing bowl. Shape into a loaf and place into the pan on top of ketchup.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven until no longer pink in the center, about 1 hour. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
