Ingredients

  • 8cupsall-purpose flour

  • 4teaspoonsbaking soda

  • 1teaspoonsalt

  • 3cupsmargarine, softened

  • 2 ½cupswhite sugar

  • 2 ½cupspacked brown sugar

  • 2teaspoonsvanilla extract

  • 4largeeggs

  • 4cupssemisweet chocolate chips

Cooking Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  2. Mix flour, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl.

  3. Beat margarine and both sugars in a large bowl with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Gradually beat in flour mixture, then stir in chocolate chips. Drop spoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets.

  4. Bake in batches in the preheated oven until the edges are golden, 12 to 15 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.

Tips

Instead of just dropping spoonfuls of dough onto the cookie sheets, sometimes I roll the cookies into balls. It makes them all look very uniform!
