Ingredients

  • 2poundsground beef

  • ½onion, chopped

  • ¾cupsmall chunks of bread

  • 2largeeggs, beaten

  • ½cupmilk

  • ½cupchopped green bell pepper

  • 1 ½teaspoonssalt

  • ¼teaspoonsage

  • ¼teaspoonground black pepper

  • ½cupketchup, or to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  2. Mix together ground beef, onion, bread, beaten eggs, milk, bell pepper, salt, sage, and black pepper in a large bowl until well combined. Press into a 9×5-inch loaf pan. Spread ketchup over the top of loaf.

  3. Bake in the preheated oven until no longer pink in the center, about 45 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
