Ingredients

  • 10cupsunpeeled, cored, and sliced apples

  • ½cupwhite sugar

  • 1tablespoonwhite whole wheat flour

  • 1teaspoonground cinnamon

  • ½cupwater

  • 1cupquick cooking oats

  • 1cupwhite whole wheat flour

  • ½cuppacked brown sugar

  • ½cupchopped walnuts

  • ¼teaspoonbaking powder

  • ¼teaspoonbaking soda

  • ½cupbutter, melted

Cooking Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C).

  2. Place sliced apples in a 9×13-inch pan. Mix white sugar, 1 tablespoon flour, and ground cinnamon together; sprinkle over apples. Pour water evenly over all.

  3. Combine oats, 1 cup flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, walnuts and melted butter together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.

  4. Bake in the preheated oven until golden and crisp on top, about 45 minutes.
