Ingredients

  • 6ouncesfresh tomatillos – husked, rinsed, and halved

  • 1largeripe avocado – halved, seeded, and flesh scooped out of the peel

  • ¼cuppacked cilantro leaves

  • ½lime, juiced

  • 1tablespoonthinly sliced serrano chile pepper, or to taste

  • salt to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. Place tomatillos into a food processor. Add avocado, cilantro, lime juice, serrano pepper, and salt. Process until smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning, then transfer to a serving bowl.

Recipe Tip

If you can’t find fresh tomatillos, you can use canned tomatillos. Wear gloves to handle the serrano pepper.
