Ingredients

  • 2cupswhite sugar

  • ½cupbutter

  • ½cupmilk

  • ¼cupcocoa powder

  • ½cupchocolate-hazelnut spread (such as Nutella)

  • 2teaspoonsvanilla extract

  • 3cupsquick-cooking oats

Cooking Directions

  1. Combine sugar, butter, milk, and cocoa in a medium saucepan over medium heat; stir until smooth. Bring to a rolling boil; continue to boil for at least 1 minute.

  2. Remove from heat. Stir in chocolate-hazelnut spread and vanilla until dissolved. Return the pot to the still-warm burner, or the lowest setting on a gas stove, and add oats. Mix well.

  3. Leave the pot on the warm burner while you drop cookies by heaping spoonfuls onto a sheet of wax paper. Let cookies set before serving.

Tips

Do not substitute margarine for butter.

You can substitute smooth peanut butter for Nutella.

You should not refrigerate the cookies; if you do, they will lose that no-bake shine.

The cookie “dough” cools very fast, so it needs to be kept on the warm burner to scoop easily. Otherwise, the last of it will harden before you can scoop it.
