Ingredients

  • 2cupsketchup

  • 2cupstomato sauce

  • 1 ¼cupsbrown sugar

  • 1 ¼cupsred wine vinegar

  • ½cupunsulfured molasses

  • 2tablespoonsbutter

  • 4teaspoonshickory-flavored liquid smoke

  • 1teaspoonsalt

  • 1teaspooncoarsely ground black pepper

  • 1teaspoonpaprika

  • ½teaspoongarlic powder

  • ½teaspoononion powder

  • ½teaspooncelery seed

  • ½teaspooncayenne pepper

  • ¼teaspoonchili powder

  • ¼teaspoonground cinnamon

Cooking Directions

  1. Mix together ketchup, tomato sauce, brown sugar, wine vinegar, molasses, butter, and liquid smoke in a large saucepan over medium heat. Season with salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, celery seed, cayenne, chili powder, and cinnamon.

  2. Reduce heat to low and simmer for up to 20 minutes. For a thicker sauce, simmer longer, and for thinner, less time is needed. Sauce can also be thinned using a bit of water if necessary.

Brush the sauce onto any meat during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
