Irresistible Cinnamon Belgian Waffles | Perfect Brunch Recipe

I tried several Belgian waffle recipes after getting my waffle iron. In the end, I combined my favorite with my husband’s favorite to come up with this recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1cupall-purpose flour

  • 1 ½teaspoonsbaking powder

  • ½teaspoonbaking soda

  • ½tablespoonwhite sugar

  • ¼teaspoonsalt

  • 1pinchground cinnamon

  • 2largeeggs, separated, divided

  • 1cupbuttermilk

  • ¼cupunsalted butter, melted

  • 1teaspoonvanilla extract

Cooking Directions

  1. Preheat a waffle iron according to manufacturer’s instructions.

  2. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl. Beat egg whites in a separate bowl with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form.

  3. Whisk buttermilk, melted butter, egg yolks, and vanilla together in a medium bowl until well blended. Stir in flour mixture until combined, then fold in egg whites.

  4. Spoon 1/3 of the batter onto the preheated waffle iron; cook until waffle is golden brown and the iron stops steaming, about 5 minutes. Repeat to cook remaining two waffles.
