Ingredients

  • 3cupsdistilled white vinegar

  • 2cupsprepared yellow mustard

  • 1 ½cupswhite sugar

  • 1 ½cupspacked light brown sugar

  • 1tablespoonground turmeric

  • 1tablespoonsalt

  • 1teaspoonground black pepper

  • 1tablespoonred pepper flakes

  • 16cupsshredded cabbage

  • 3carrots, shredded

  • 3green bell peppers, seeded and chopped

  • 2largeonions, chopped

Cooking Directions

  1. In a large stock pot, combine vinegar, mustard, white sugar, and brown sugar. Season with turmeric, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir to dissolve sugar and bring to a boil.

  2. Add cabbage, carrots, peppers, and onions. Return to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes, frequently stirring.
