Ingredients

  • ¼cupvegetable oil

  • 1cupchopped celery

  • 1cupchopped onion

  • 1cupchopped green bell pepper

  • 2clovesgarlic, minced

  • 2poundsground beef

  • 1cupketchup

  • 1cupchili sauce

  • ½cupwater

  • 2tablespoonschopped fresh parsley

  • 1tablespoonwhite vinegar

  • 2teaspoonsbrown sugar

  • 1teaspoonsalt

  • 1teaspoonpepper

  • 1teaspoondry mustard powder

  • 1teaspoonchili powder

  • ½teaspoonpaprika

  • 2teaspoonsWorcestershire sauce

Cooking Directions

  1. Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Stir in celery, onion, green bell pepper, and garlic. Cook and stir until vegetables have softened, about 5 minutes. Add ground beef, increase the heat to medium-high, and stir until crumbly and browned, about 10 minutes.

  2. Stir in ketchup, chili sauce, water, parsley, vinegar, brown sugar, salt, pepper, mustard powder, chili powder, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer 30 minutes, occasionally stirring.
